Vertis Health is seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Clinical Psychologist to join our growing Children and Young People’s (CYP) Neurodevelopmental Assessment Service. This is an exciting opportunity to work within a high-quality multidisciplinary team delivering both ADHD and Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) diagnostic assessments for children and young people across Worcestershire. 

The successful applicant will play a key role in providing expert psychological assessment, formulation and diagnostic expertise, supporting robust MDT decision-making and helping children, young people and their families access timely, high-quality neurodevelopmental assessments.

Hours: Full-time or part-time, Monday to Friday, 09:00 17:00

Contract Type: Permanent

Salary: £60,000-£66,500 per annum + NHS Pension, CPD time, no on call and other benefits.

As a Clinical Psychologist, you will:

The post holder will:

• Deliver specialist neurodevelopmental assessments for children and young people presenting with ADHD, ASD, or co-occurring neurodevelopmental needs. 

• Undertake detailed developmental history taking, complex psychological assessment and formulation. Review and integrate information from multiple sources including families, schools, questionnaires and previous records. 

• Apply evidence-based clinical reasoning to support defensible MDT diagnostic decision-making. 

• Utilise validated assessment tools where appropriate, including ADOS-2 and ADHD assessment measures. 

• Produce high-quality diagnostic reports and provide feedback to children, young people and families using neurodiversity-affirming approaches. 

• Identify co-occurring mental health, developmental or safeguarding concerns and escalate appropriately.

• Participate in MDT meetings, clinical supervision, audit, quality improvement and service development activities. 

Key responsibilities include:

Clinical Assessment and Diagnostic Contribution

• Conduct structured ADHD/ASD assessments with children and young people.
• Obtain developmental histories and assess functional impact across settings.
• Review and integrate multi-informant evidence to support diagnostic decisions.
• Contribute expert psychological formulation and diagnostic reasoning within MDT discussions.
• Identify safeguarding concerns and co-occurring conditions, ensuring appropriate escalation and referral.

Documentation and Communication

• Produce comprehensive diagnostic reports within agreed timescales.
• Communicate assessment outcomes and recommendations clearly and compassionately.
• Maintain accurate clinical records and correspondence.
• Use neurodiversity-affirming language and evidence-based recommendations throughout practice.

Governance, Quality and Service Development

• Work within organisational policies relating to safeguarding, consent, confidentiality and clinical governance.
• Participate in supervision, reflective practice and audit activities.
• Support ongoing quality improvement initiatives.
• Liaise effectively with referring professionals and partner agencies as required.

Requirements

Essential

• Appropriate qualification in Clinical Psychology.
• Current HCPC registration as a Practitioner Psychologist.
• Significant postqualification experience working with children and young people in neurodevelopmental, CAMHS or related services.
• Direct experience contributing to CYP ADHD/ASD diagnostic assessments within an MDT.
• Strong formulation, clinical reasoning and reportwriting skills.
• Sound understanding of safeguarding and risk in CYP services.

Desirable

• ADOS2 trained.
• Experience of working with dual presentation (ASD/ADHD).
• Experience supporting service development or audit activity.
• Experience using EMIS.
