Description
A secure healthcare service is seeking to recruit a Consultant Psychiatrist to join the team within a learning disability ward. This is a full-time role of 37.5 hours per week.
The service is located in a rural area and provides specialist care for individuals with learning disabilities, mental health needs, behaviors that challenge, or offending behaviors. The setting includes low secure beds and a newly opened locked rehabilitation service.

As a Consultant Psychiatrist, your responsibilities will include:
Providing expert clinical care as a Responsible Clinician, supported by an on-site senior management team.
Assisting qualified staff with assessments and the implementation of individual care plans.
Undertaking routine clinical tasks and activities delegated to support patient dignity, wellbeing, and recovery.
Managing complex cases within learning disability psychiatry.
Working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
Being supported by dedicated administrative staff and having access to flexible or remote working options.
Participating in the non-residential second on-call rota (low contact rate).

The ideal candidate will:
Hold a CCT or CESR in Psychiatry of Learning Disability.
Have Approved Clinician status.
Demonstrate strong leadership abilities and a compassionate, patient-centred approach.
Have experience managing complex clinical presentations in this population.
Understand recovery-focused care, positive risk-taking, and appropriate use of restrictive practices.
Be able to work collaboratively within a well-established MDT.
