We are currently seeking Consultant Psychiatrists to join the Kimberley Mental Health and Drug Service, based in Broome and Kununurra Hospitals. About the Role
As a Consultant Psychiatrist, you will play a pivotal role in providing specialist mental health care across the Kimberley region. You will:
Lead a multidisciplinary team, including psychiatry trainees, interns, Aboriginal Liaison Officers, nurses, and allied health professionals.
Provide clinical leadership for emergency department mental health presentations and acute inpatient care at Broome Mental Health Unit (BMHU).
Supervise and mentor junior medical staff, fostering their growth and development.
Deliver culturally responsive care, working closely with Aboriginal Liaison Officers to ensure mental health support is aligned with cultural values and beliefs.
Treat a diverse range of psychiatric presentations, including first-episode psychosis, mood disorders, and substance use disorders.
These roles offer a broad clinical scope and the opportunity to develop expertise in rural and remote psychiatry, a highly sought-after skillset in Australia.
